Russell Court Hotel Division 2 [July 21st 2018]

Railway Union v Malahide

Unbeaten Leaders Malahide travel across the River Liffey to Park Lane to take on Railway Union. Having beaten all in front of them so far, they will be confident of keeping their title run on course. However, Railway will have plans of their own as they are right in the mix to challenge for promotion. Railway haven't played a league game in quite some time which may count against them. The key to beating Malahide, well we don't know because nobody has achieved it so far, but it could be early wickets, particularly the Finto and the Ford Brothers. That said they have plenty of firepower in the top and middle order also. Will Railway be the first to put a chink in the leaders armour this season? At Park Lane they will feel they can. And if Kenny Carroll has his batting boots on, Railway are a match for anybody. Having said that an away win is the most likely results, but Railway won't go down without a battle.

Balbriggan v Cork County

Cork County make the long journey to Jack Harper Memorial Park to take on a Balbriggan outfit smarting from a defeat by Rush last weekend in an entertaining high scoring encounter. Balbriggan still sit second in the table, 50 points clear of their opponents. Balbriggan hope to have their full bowling attack back for this match and that may be the key. Runs should not be a problem for both sides as JHMP has been providing plenty of them this season. It could be a tale of the two bowling attacks. The table below shows how close it is between Balbriggan, Rush and Railway Union for the second promotion spot. So this is a must win game for the home side to keep in touch with the teams around them. For Cork to mount a challenge towards the top end of the table they need to show up too. This could be a close encounter, as they often have been between the two. Again a home win looks the more likely result, but it will have to be earned as Cork will travel not without hope of victory.
