  3. RSA Open Competitions : Mid Year League Round UP
7th July 2012 by Eddie Lewis

RSA Open Competitions : Mid Year League Round UP

It may not feel like it but we are at the mid-point of the season and league tables are beginning to assume an importance as we prepare for the long run to the end of the season.

In D1 and D2 between the weather and cup fixtures there is not much change over the past month. YMCA have replaced The Hills as second in D1 and North County are now in the relegation zone. Leinster are well placed at the top and Terenure have a lot to do at the bottom but there is still everything to play for. There is no change in D2 with Pembroke and Phoenix consolidating their positions as favourites for promotion. Cork County have lost most matches to the weather and will be hoping for the opportunity to get a few wins in the second half of the year.

In D3 Balbriggan have lost some of their early season form and drop from 1st to 3rd position. Clontarf II are still undefeated but with only three matches counted. There is a large chasing pack led by Merrion II and North County II

North Kildare have dropped from leading D4 to thirdwith Laois now the leaders over Railway II. Pembroke III and Mullingar are in the danger zone. In a similar movement in D6 Clontrf III have fallen two places and the table is now led by an undefeated Merrion III followed by Dundrum. Leinster III remain in the relegation zone but Malahide have moved up to be replaced by Railway III.

No change at the top of D6 but Belvedere II have made a big move off the bottom over the month and now lie third. Phoenix III now join Clonee at the bottom. In D7 Merrion V lost two games in June to reverse good early season form and are now third, following leaders Leinster IV and The Hills III who have made it out of the relegation zone in one month. Bagenalstown still need to get on the pitch more to record a few wins.

Clontarf IV still lead D8 and are undefeated with Dundrum II and Balbriggan II pressing. Merrion Vi stay in relegation zone and are joined by Malahide IV. In D9 Adamstown have made a big move and have now six wins out of seven played and just edge out Civil Service IV. Dublin University are in trouble in second last place with 32% and now depend on the results of other teams.

D10 is the only league where there is no change in the month. Sandyford II are still undefeated and lead with 94%. Railway IV got off to a great start and won five matches, but a single loss has dropped them to third place in D11. Knockharley II and Laois II top the table and are both undefeated.

Greystones retain their leading position in D12 with Wexford II now their main challenger. Ring Commons  continue to lead D13. Both teams undefeated. In the final league Clonee have seven wins [the most in the open competitions] out of eight played with no losses and a comfortable lead over Dundrum III in second place.

Looking at the tables overall, Clontarf who had a very good May have been pegged back a bit with Leinster and Dundrum the most successful clubs. The highlights are as follows:
