We publish one set of averages from the top four Divisions this week as there is only one set of complete figures – that for Division 1. Hopefully we can catch up on scorecards next week and any club that has not sent in their results are asked to do so immediately.
In part compensation for the avid followers of the averages, the thresholds for the different categories in Division 1 have been left the same – so we have more players included.
The big change since the last published figures [28th June] is the movement up the batting tables of the Clontarf pair Andrew Poynter and Bill Coghlan. There sparking form over the past few weeks puts Poynter in the top spot while Coghlan enters at number 4. Tim Affleck [NC] moves up to third place while Brett Thompson [Merrion] drops to second. Poynter is the only player to reach 500 runs so far this season.
On the bowling front Jono Cook [Pembroke] retains his lead position with the YMCA pair of Simmi Singh and Yaqoob Ali in the next two places. Only Fiachra Tucker [Pem] has broken the 20 wicket mark.
