A rain interrupted Saturday means that the final of the RSA Leinster Senior Cup extends into a second day. On Monday evening the match will resume [18.00] with Clontarf needed 100 runs to win with seven wickets remaining in 21.1 overs.
Earlier in the day Pembroke had reached a total of 236, never really managing to build a momentum from a slow start. Clontarf bowling and ground fielding had been of a high quality throughout and gave nothing away. Nonetheless too much was asked of the later batting to post a really challenging score on a good YMCA wicket.
Clontarf when they batted also proceeded carefully and despite losing Forrest at 30 were always in charge. But as the day drew to a close Pembroke struck twice to dismiss Coghlan and Watterson both of whom had scored half centuries.
Clontarf start afresh in what is effectively a 20 over game on Monday night, still in the box seat but with an amount still to do to secure victory.
Pembroke 236/8 [T Lawson 79, A Balbirnie 57*, A Cusack 3/45]
Clontarf 137/3 [B Coghlan 62, M Watterson 53]
