  3. RSA Irish Senior Cup - Merrion and Phoenix
24th May 2013 by Eddie Lewis

RSA Irish Senior Cup - Merrion and Phoenix

Two Leinster teams are involved in RSA Irish Senior Cup [R1 Refixes] matches today. First up is Phoenix who will be hoping that, what is now, a Home fixture in the Park will be the edge needed to secure victory against Eglinton.

Phoenix have not had a great start to the season and come off a 10 wicket mauling by Merrion last weekend. Eglington have only played two matches in the NW Premier League, losing to the leaders Coleraine and beating the bottom club Fox Lodge. So not much to go on there.

Phoenix field a full strength team today with Dickeson coming in for Wells. The team is Conor Kelly, Masud Ahmed, Tom Anders, Syed Ali, Riaan Jeggels, Rory Anders, Adam Chester, Sadaf Raza, Corie Dickeson, Steve Davis, Jonathan Wardell.

The match starts at 2.30.

The second game is between Coleraine and Merrion. This is a 25 over affair starting at 4.30 in Anglesea Road. This could be a very interesting game and much will depend on whether or not Coleraine travel with a full squad. Two very comprehensive wins against Gendermott and Fox Lodge got their season off to a good start but there has not been much cricket recently due to the terrible weather in the NW.

Merrion has its strongest line-up possible for an Irish Cup match with Damian Poder returning after being unavailable for a couple of weeks and Kade Beasley, who has been in good form on Merrion IIs, also playing.

The full team is Dom Joyce, Brett Thompson, Ben Ackland, John Anderson, Tyrone Kane, Damian Poder, Kade Beasley, Peter Blakeney, Ronan McDonald, David Watkins, Alex O’Brien.
