  3. Photo of the Year 2013 - Week 2
26th February 2013 by Cricket Leinster

Photo of the Year 2013 - Week 2

Lots more entries this week in our on-going search to find the best Cricket Leinster photo of 2013. It has to be said that none of them were actually taken this year, but when you can have sun drenched shots of cricket being played, why have dreary images of an Irish winter!

Three more finalists this week, and with there only being two weeks of competition in February, there were only six photos to consider the February winner, and hence go forward for consideration for Cricket Leinster, Photo of the Year at the LCU annual dinner in the Autumn.

The first photo was submitted by Foram Mehta of North County. Foram says, "

Very proud of these young knights at North County CC U11 after their first match Vs Malahide!
8 of the 10 in the photo had played their first match in Leinster, 4 of these 8 were first timers to Cricket with no connection to cricket from their families.
1 of these 4 now is listed on Leinster U11s training squad.
Conor Moore, Ciaran Sheridan, Jack Mcgrange, Justin Martin, Evan Mehta
Justin Grassi, William Stent, Sean Behan, Simon Farren and John Devan.
All of these and another 18 are all looking forward to Season 2013!!!"
The middle shot, is a historic one, as it shows the celebrations after Railway Union women won their first title since being reformed in 2008. The trophy was the Junior Cup. Thanks to Aisling Breen for sending it in.
Finally, a great photo sent in by Tiffany McDonough of a certain Alan Lewis finding it all too much for one day.
After much deliberation, the best one of the shots submitted in February, was the acrobatic shot of Tim Townend for Railway Union in 2011 However, as it was not taken in 2013, it won't be eligible for the award!
Keep the photos coming in, by sending them to photos@cricketleinster.ie, Twitter, or Facebook
