The first league title winners of the 2024 season were confirmed last evening , as Pembroke CC sealed the Women’sDivision One title with 3 games to spare.
Last night’s win over The Hills in a rain-affected game saw them running out 8 wicket victors, putting them into an unassailable position having won each of their 11 games so far.
Sarah Forbes was the key performer with the bat once again last night, as her 37* guided the side to a win with two and a half overs to spare.
Forbes has been a consistent force with the bat this season, leading the side to numerous victories. Having an instant impact on her first season with the club.
It was a solid if somewhat unspectacular evening with the ball for the Champions last night, however there were typically strong performances from their breakthrough duo of Zoe Bell and KimLi McDonald, another pair who have played a massive role for the side this season.
The side has been captained this season by former Ireland international Shauna Kavanagh, and she along with current internationals Orla Prendergast and Lou Lou Little have also played big parts in this season’s success.
Congratulations to Pembroke, their captain Shauna Kavanagh, coach Clare Shillington, all players, officials and supporters on a brilliant achievement, Women’s Division One Champions for the 2024 season!
