  3. MVP - The Finishing Straight
12th September 2012 by Craig Senior

MVP - The Finishing Straight

As we enter the finishing straight the tussle at the top of the MVP rankings is getting tighter all the time. Long-time leader R. Meraj [Laois] (1,749 points) remains at the summit of overall points, but his lead has been cut to just 15 points by A. Coates [Ring Commons], whose points total must have been greatly enhanced by his 203 (retired) last weekend. These two are the only players to have achieved over 1,700 points. However the pursuing pack are not too far away and with two weekends remaining there are a couple of players who remain in contention for a podium place at least. A. Ravi [R&SPU] is 73 points behind and the rising star Jack Tector [YMCA] is perhaps at the limit of 126 in arrears.

There won’t be any reports / article next week as the author wraps up his own season (if only there was a table for OCC penalties for captains he would top at least one table, probably) and gets his gear washed[ii] and put back into the attic for another seven months, but a final report on the statistics of the season will be published the following week.

I would like to thank everyone who has read these ramblings, given feedback and even requested their own clubs statistics. Finally a shout out to Conor Gibbons, who I see is still being flogged to death in Malahide bowling 172 overs. See you next season Conor.

There are no qualification points in any of these tables. No minimum wickets, innings etc. Catches are made by everyone and there is no difference between wicket keepers and the rest of us.

[ii] He should have to do this himself.
