It is with regret that Leinster Lightning announce that Jeff Short has resigned from his position as a Leinster Lightning selector. Jeff has recently set up his own Insurance Brokerage and the increased workload would impinge on his selection duties.
Jeff was one of the original Lightning selectors appointed when the revamped interprovincial series came into being back in 2013. Jeff has been part of a selection group overseeing Leinster Lightning’s unprecedented success, winning 13 out of the 15 trophies on offer to date.
The Lightning players, selectors and coaching staff would like to thank Jeff for all his hard work over the past 5 seasons and wish him the best of success with his new business endeavour.
We also regret to announce that Yaqoob Ali Shah has retired from Leinster Lightning. Yaqoob has decided to play all his cricket in the Munster Cricket Union.
Yaqoob has commuted from Tralee, Co. Kerry over the last number of years to play in Leinster and having already represented Munster in the 2017 IP20 competition, he has decided to play all his cricket closer to home. Yaqoob’s enthusiasm, energy and love for the game was infectious and he always played the game with a smile on his face and will be greatly missed.
Leinster Lightning are hoping to advertise and fill the vacant selectors position with a matter of urgency. There will be a separate advertisement from Cricket Leinster advising of these details.
