Lightning squad for crucial Warrriors clash

The Leinster Lightning selectors have the pleasure in announcing the following squad for our final Hanley Energy Inter-Provincial 3-day Championship match of the season against the North-West Warriors in Malahide Cricket Club starting on Tuesday the 23rd August.

The Lightning head into this match four points behind leaders, the Northern Knights, having drawn both games against them this year followed by a victory against the Warriors in Bready back in early June. Four bonus points while avoiding defeat will secure the trophy we have held ever since the Inter-Provincial tournament was relaunched back in 2013 and complete a hat-trick of titles this season for the second year in succession,

The selectors have named a strong squad for this important match which sees skipper John Anderson making a welcome return from injury. Anderson was admirably replaced by Eddie Richardson for two matches during July. Dom Joyce, who has been a fixture at the top of the order this season is unfortunately unavailable due to work commitments. This means that young Stephen Doheny has been given another opportunity to impress.
Kevin O’Brien also comes back into the squad having completed his County commitments this season.

Squad for 1st July:
John Anderson (Cpt – Merrion); Peter Chase (Malahide); George Dockrell (Trinity/Leinster); Stephen Doheny (Rush); Tyrone Kane (Merrion); Kevin O’Brien (Railway Union / Leicestershire); Richardson (North County); Simi Singh (YMCA); Max Sorensen (The Hills); Jack Tector (YMCA); Sean Terry (YMCA); Lorcan Tucker (Trinity/Pembroke).

The first ball will be bowled at 11am each day in Malahide and admission is free.
