Lightning aiming for more success with first squad of 2018

The Leinster Lightning selectors have the pleasure in announcing the following squads.

The Lightning open their defence of the Hanley Energy Inter-Provincial Championship against the North-West Warriors in Pembroke Cricket Club on the 1st to the 3rd of May.

George Dockrell (Leinster); Tyrone Kane, Ed Joyce & John Anderson (All Merrion); Lorcan Tucker & Andrew Balbirnie (both Pembroke); Jack Tector & Simi Singh (both YMCA); Andrew Sheridan (North County); Sean Terry (The Hills); Peter Chase (Malahide); Kevin O’Brien (Railway Union).

Josh Little and David Delany have upcoming exams and were not considered for selection, while Eddie Richardson is carrying a niggle and will not be risked for this game.

We are very grateful to all at Pembroke Cricket Club for facilitating a change of venue at such short notice. Entry into Sydney Parade is free all 3 days and play starts at 11am each morning. Please come down and support.

The Bolts have an increased programme of matches this year which is due to the hard work and efforts of provincial head coaches Simon Johnston (Northern Knights) and Albert van der Merwe (Leinster Lightning). The series of games now provide a meaningful pathway for player progression and we are hoping for further expansion going forward.

The Bolts season was due to get underway this Sunday with two T20 games against the Emerging Knights. However both games in Holywood CC have now been cancelled due to the continued poor weather.

The selected Lightning Bolts Squad was:

Tom Anders & Rory Anders (Phoenix); Jamie Grassi & Andrew Sheridan (North County); Mark Donegan & Nicolaas Pretorius (The Hills); Oliver Gunning (YMCA); Tom Stanton & Max Neville (Merrion); Fiachra Tucker (Pembroke); Steve Doheny (Rush); Gareth Delany (Leinster).
