  3. LHK Insurance T20 League: R2 Preview
1st July 2017 by Eddie Lewis

LHK Insurance T20 League: R2 Preview

Today sees the critical second round of the LHK Insurance T20 League. Based on results so far a team that secures five wins will proceed through to the next round. So it is unlikely that the results from today’s matches will see anyone confirmed as through to the Quarter Finals. But depending on the results across all the games it is possible that some teams on four wins could be just about there.

The weather should be reasonably good today. According to AccuWeather there is only a small chance of rain before about 20.00. Met Eireann have not updated their Dublin regional forecast for the day at time of writing. Anyway there is a good chance of a full days play.

The full table after the first round is set out below. Obviously there is greatest pressure on the teams without a win. Another loss today would make it very unlikely that they would qualify. Of the teams involved in the first time slot [10.30] today Cork County v Rush at Kenure has the feel of a cup match. For the other teams, Railway have a tough early assignment v Clontarf in Castle Avenue and Terenure take on Balbriggan in Claremont Ave.

The grounds in use today are Castle Avenue, Kenure, Claremount Road, Inch and Anglesea Road. Most interest today will be centred on Anglesea Road where two of the four undefeated teams after R1 are taking part. First up Merrion take on Pembroke, and this is followed by Pembroke v Malahide.

The squads [in so far as they have been communicated to me] are:
