We delighted to announce that the first ever RSA Inter-Provincial T20 Blitz Day will be held in Pembroke Club on Friday the 21st June 2013.
We’re sure by now that you’re all aware of the RSA Inter-Provincial Series which started back in early May and which has so far been a huge success. This series consists of matches between teams representing the Leinster (Lightning), Northern (Knights) and North-West (Warriors) Cricket Unions and featuring the cream of the playing talent in each region. Matches are played home and away in all 3 forms of the game, namely 3 Day matches as well as 50 over and 20 over games.
So far the Leinster Lightning, captained by Kevin O’Brien, coached by Trent Johnston and featuring a host of international players, has beaten both the Knights and Warriors in our home 50 over matches and were unfortunate not to press home a victory in a thrilling draw with the Warriors at College Park in our only 3 day game to date, a game which we dominated from the start.
And so on to the first T20 day. The day consists of 2 matches and we’re involved in both. First up the Lightning take on the Warriors starting at 12:30 and ending at 15:30. After a 90 minute break, we play the Knights, starting at 17:00.
During the break, the will be a series of kwik-cricket matches featuring local teams in the area.
Food and drink will be readily available throughout the day (no alcohol may be brought onto the premises).
As the 21st June is the longest day of the year, we’re refusing to believe that it won’t be a perfect day weather-wise. You don’t want to miss this exhibition of quality T20 cricket – being the family down to Pembroke Cricket Club (Park Avenue, Sandymount, Dublin 4). Tickets are €10 and under-16’s get in free. Entry is free to members of Cricket Ireland – please bring your membership cards along. The gates open at 11:30am.
