Leinster CC looking forward to World T20!

The T20 World Cup, both men`s and women`s, takes place in Bangladesh starting 17th March. The  Leinster club will have six representatives taking part with the women`s team having four players, Eimear Richardson, Laura Delany, Rebecca Rolfe and Amy Kenealy, whilst on the men`s side George Dockrell and coach Peter Johnston will be representing Ireland.

The Rathmines club`s men`s first team have experienced mixed fortunes in recent times having won the Irish Senior cup in 2009 and Leinster Senior League in 2012, then being relegated to Division 2 for the 2014 season. The men's coaching set-up has now been over-hauled - with Peter Johnston (Irish coach assistant) will now be coach to the men`s senior sides.
The long term success of any club is based on a strong youth section and the renewed youth coaching set up introduced last season for both girls and boys generated a real enthusiasm among players and their parents and some considerable success on the field with increased numbers of girls and boys taking part.
Many will remember John Moffat, one of the people who played a key role in this development, John was a professional player with the club in the early 2000s and also played for a few seasons with Railway Union and his return to Leinster last season to coach some of the boys teams was a real success.  Equally the club was fortunate to have Laura Delany with her international experience to draw on to head up the girls coaching department and with Amy Kenealy coaching with Criccket Leinster, the clunb will have plenty of top class coaching to draw on for the 2014 season.
