Open Competitions : League Divisions 2 - 4

Everyone is aware of how close the top and bottom of Division 1 is. But what of the rest of the league? As we start the last weekend in August there is much still to play for.

Leinster and Terenure appear to have a strangle hold on D2 and while the title is still up for grabs it woud take a massive effort for Malahide to secure a promotion spot. A win for Malahide against Leinster this weekend is a must. The tie between Leinster and Terenure on the final weekend will probably settle the title. By my reckoning Leinster are already promoted.

At the bottom of the table Old Belvedere, North County II and The Hills II are fighting it out to avoid the drop. The Hills look most likely to stay up but wins for N County  in Cork or Belvedere against Rush could upset things.

Leisnter IIs are in a strong positin to take D3 honours but with four games remaining still have a bit to do. DU are favourites for the second promotion spot, but Balbriggan are still in the hunt. It doesn't look like anything can save Oakhill at the foot of the tatble, who despite getting to the Tillain Cup Final, have only won one league game all season. Civil Service, Clontarf II and Malahide II are neck and neck and any one could join Oakhill in D4 next year.

D4 itself is hotting up with YMCA II, Merrion II and Phoenix II all vying for a promotion. Railway Union II look secure at the top but a couple of losses [and they still have to play YMCA twice] could thwart their title ambitions. Malahide III [with only one win this year] have only a mathematical chance of staying up but they could be joined by either Laois or North Kildare. Laois have two games against Merrion yet to play and these could determine both the second promotion and relegation places.
