  3. Ireland women to take on Bangladesh
21st August 2016 by Cricket Ireland

Ireland women to take on Bangladesh

IRELAND WOMEN will face Bangladesh in two T20 internationals and two ODIs in September. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Cricket Ireland have agreed to a slight shortening of the tour, with the "Girls in Green" playing the T20 internationals on September 5th and 6th, followed by the ODIs on the 8th and 10 - all matches will be held at Bready.

"We have agreed to facilitate the slight shortening of the tour to accommodate the Bangladesh Cricket Board's own logistical and operational considerations, which we were happy to assist with," said Cricket Ireland CEO Warren Deutrom.

"With four matches in two formats, there is still plenty of opportunity for our players to get valuable experience against Full Member opposition in our build-up and preparation for early 2017's World Cup Qualifier."

BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said the tour will be an excellent opportunity for the cricketers to test themselves against fellow World Cup hopefuls: “I want to thank Cricket Ireland for the tour arrangements. Taking logistical and operational convenience into consideration we had to shorten the duration of the tour and Cricket Ireland deserves a lot of credit for accommodating the BCB’s request and making the necessary adjustments within a short time. The players I am sure will make the most of the four games that promise exciting and competitive cricket.

“Our cricketers will be greatly benefited by the experience of playing in conditions that are not familiar to them. Bangladesh and Ireland are rapidly developing teams and both are on a mission to qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup. This will be very good preparation heading into the qualifiers next year.”
