  3. Ireland through to 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup
9th July 2013 by Eddie Lewis

Ireland through to 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup

Ireland made it difficult for themselves and ended up playing out an exciting tie with The Netherlands in Amsterdam. Ireland made 269/5 in their 50 overs [Ed Joyce 96*] but struggled in the field and with Netherlands at 140/1 looked in a lot of trouble. But wickets fell steadily and siome tight bowling at the end looked to have secured a victory until the No 11 bat managed to score 10 off the last two balls to secure the tie.

It matters little to Ireland who now qualify at top of the group with 20 points with two matches to play. Netherlands and Scotland have 15 each.
