  3. Guidance on 3-County Restrictions
11th August 2020 by Cricket Leinster

Guidance on 3-County Restrictions

In respect of recent Covid measures introduced by the Government in the Counties of Kildare, Laois and Offaly, the OCC has taken the opportunity to reflect on the implication these have to the playing of matches in those Counties.

In the spirit of trying to facilitate as much as cricket as possible in this truncated season, the OCC has agreed the following arrangements.

Any matches scheduled to be played in any of the three affected Counties, or involving clubs from the three affected Counties, may be replayed but strictly on the following basis:

  1. The venue that the match will be played at must be outside the boundaries of Counties Laois, Kildare and Offaly.
  2. None of the players or match officials in these matches should reside in the above three Counties.
  3. Any matches so replayed must be completed by 30th August 2020.
  4. Any agreement on replaying such matches must be made and advised to the OCC by no later than 9pm on Sunday 16th August.
  5. Playerswho reside in Counties Kildare, Laois or Offaly, who are therefore prohibited from playing for their clubs during this period, may retain their existing place in their club's starring list provided they have played for their club during the previous two weeks.

The above relates to matches scheduled to have been played over the weekends of 8th/9th and 15th/16th August, and the OCC will revisit same if there are any changes in Government guidance on local lockdown arrangements.

For the avoidance of doubt, it will be for the two teams to agree to a new date/venue/time for a match, which can be midweek, and if no such agreement is reached by 9pm on Sunday 16th August, then the match will be cancelled and the points shared.
