Greystones CC Relocates to Druids Glen Resort

Druids Glen Resort has today become the new home to Greystones Cricket, as the club permanently moves to the resort’s stunning grounds this month. Druids Glen, located in Newtownmountkennedy, is just ten minutes south of Greystones, and is perfectly located for this new Wicklow partnership!

As the Irish club cricket season comes to a close this weekend for 2014, the Wicklow club and their 200 members will be taking their first innings in the 2015 season next spring in their new home, situated in Druids Acres on the resort.

Founded in 2011, Greystones Cricket has awakened the interest in the sport across the county and since they were established three years ago the club has continued to grow their member base, which now comprises of three men’s teams, one ladies team and a number of underage teams.

Druids Glen Resort which includes an award-winning hotel and spa, also hosts two championship golf courses on the grounds, the Druids Glen and Druids Heath. Guests and members alike will now have the attraction of taking in the great sport at the weekends as the Greystones’ teams take on their Leinster opposition.

Speaking about the new partnership, Edward Stephenson, CEO of Druids Glen Resort, said; “We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming Greystones Cricket onto our grounds here at Druids Glen. We are lucky to have such beautiful surroundings and this will be a great addition to the area for everyone to enjoy. Cricket is a growing sport in Ireland and I am sure that Greystones Cricket has a successful future ahead.”

David Drane, President of Greystones Cricket said, “This is a very exciting time for us as we move to our new home in Druids Glen Resort. Greystones Cricket teams have seen some amazing success since our establishment in 2011 and we are extremely proud to have launched a very competitive ladies team this year as well as experiencing continued growth in our underage section; we are now one of Ireland’s fastest growing cricket clubs. We are really looking forward to seeing what the future will bring and we’re delighted that Druids Glen are going to be a part of this.”
