  3. Gerry Byrne’s weekly update
11th July 2011 by Gerry Bryne

Gerry Byrne’s weekly update

Another full round of matches in both Divisions 1 and 2 over the weekend.  I now attach the tables updated to reflect the results.

A win for North County has stretched their lead at the top. However the next 5 behind them are separated only by 5 percentage points. While Phoenix are lagging a little, they do have two/three matches in hand on the other teams in the division.

Division 2 has effectively been separated into two half tables, with the top four chasing the two promotion slots and the bottom 4 battling to avoid the two relegation ones. It is not over yet, of course, with between 5 and 7 matches left to play, weather permitting.

Congratulations to the two teams, Merrion and North County, that have made the final of the LHW Cup to be held at Malahide on Saturday 23rd July.

In case anyone was wondering, as there were only 3 matches played last weekend I did not send out updated averages.  Will do so this coming weekend.

LHW Leinster League Tables 2011

Results Week ended 10th July 2011

Division 1

At Inch. North County (21) beat Y.M.C.A.(4) by 25 runs.

At Castle Avenue. Pembroke (23) beat Clontarf (2) by 69 runs.

At Anglesea Road Railway Union (23) beat Merrion (2) by 60 Runs

At Milverton The Hills (24) beat Phoenix (1) by 7 wickets.

Division 2.

At The Mardyke. Cork County (25) beat The Hills 2 (0) by 10 wickets

At Rathmines Leinster (24) beat Rush (1) by 7 wickets

At Terenure Terenure (24) beat North County 2 (1) by 7 wickets

At Cabra Oval Malahide (22) beat Old Belvedere (3) by 3 wickets

Note: In tables below I have included in the number of matches played the number of matches (if any) which have been abandoned with no result. While these do not affect points (as none are awarded) or percentages (as they are ignored in calculating those) they will indicate the number of matches that each team has left to play, as each team may be playing different numbers of matches. Where a match that has been abandoned has to be re-fixed I have not included the abandoned match.
