Cricket Leinster, in conjunction with Fingal County Council ran an indoor club tournament during the Easter school holidays at the National Sports Campus, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.
This tournament was a first for Fingal, Leinster and Ireland. Rush CC, Malahide CC and North County CC all participated on the day where each team brought a squad of 12 players from the u13 age-group. The tournament was organised to help the local Fingal clubs prepare for the season ahead and get together as teams before the season. The tournament was played under the ‘8-a-side’ format with each club playing three matches with a fourth team being made-up from extra players from each of the clubs.
The day was a great success with all the participants enjoying the fixtures against the other clubs. Also, using the National Sports Campus facilities was a great experience for everyone involved. We will now be looking to run this event on an annual basis giving the Fingal clubs the ideal start to each season.
