  3. Fantasy table delayed by missing result cards
27th September 2013 by craig@cricket.ie

Fantasy table delayed by missing result cards

“No matter how great your triumphs or how tragic your defeats, remember that approximately one billion Chinese people couldn’t care less” – Abraham Lazlo.

That being said, it has been gratifying to see the readership figures and to hear from so many of you who have read this season’s articles. However, whether you top the table or prop it up, the importance of statistics is minimal, especially statistics which focus on the individual, such as this fantasy table, in a game which emphasises the team above anything.   What really matters is how you remember the summer, whether it be the time spent with teammates, trips to away games, pranks played, partnerships made or topics discussed, all of which go into making a season memorable.

The weather, of course, is always a big factor. Sitting in a pavilion, shed, or car watching rain come tumbling down as you watch others dragging covers onto a wicket is no fun and causes more retirements than injuries ever did. Thankfully in 2013 the weather gods gave us few re-fixes, few postponements, and even few delays and much cricket was played.

However at this stage we are unable to bring you the final positions and the winners in the various categories (some relevant, some not so much) as not all of the result cards have been submitted.

It seems that there are five matches still not reported and although it is unlikely to change much at the top, it would be nice to be able to produce a final accurate table. Therefore until these result cards are submitted, no figures, no winners.

The outstanding, and not in a good way, matches are:

Division 6: Rush 2 v Merrion 4.  (now received 30/9)

Division 7: Bagenalstown v Merrion 5 (now received 1/10)

Division 10: Merrion 6 v Ringcommons

Division 11: Greystones 2 v Slieve Bloom (now received 28/9)

And quite unbelievably outstanding from 23 June…. R&SPU 5 v YMCA 4.

Whilst it is the obligation of the home team to submit results I am sure the OCC would accept a result card from the away team either.

I apologise to those people who have already asked for their final end of season statistics and I would hope to be able to produce the figures for them soon.

If you are one of the offending captains, or know them, please try and get these games reported asap. Once we have them we can produce not only the final table, but start our Division-by-Division fantasy roundup.

Cheers.
