EXCITING UPDATES TO SMASH-IT & IT’S WICKET FOR 2025 (12.5.2025)
Cricket Leinster is delighted to announce an exciting refresh of the Smash-It and It’s Wicket programmes for the 2025 season – two great programmes designed to bring fun and inclusive cricket experiences to young players across the province.
With encouraging growth in 2024, both programmes are being expanded and improved to give more children – especially girls – a positive first experience with cricket.
What’s New in 2025?
Enhanced Equipment Packs Delivered to Homes
Every child who registers for Smash-It or It’s Wicket in 2025 will receive an updated equipment pack sent directly to their home. Each pack includes:
• A bright new bat and ball
• A stylish backpack
• A Smash It or It’s Wicket branded t-shirt
Discount for Returning Participants
Children who participated in Smash-It or Its Wicket in previous years will now receive a discount should they sign up at their club running programmes in 2025.
Coaching Resources
Clubs will continue to have access to a series of online coaching materials as well as further advanced activator training. These resources include fully detailed Smash It and Its Wicket session plans, video support, and guidance for volunteer coaches.
It’s Wicket! Expansion – More Than Just Cricket
It's Wicket!, our girls-only programme for ages 12–15, is evolving beyond cricket skills. Sessions now incorporate team-building games, leadership activities, and personal development content. The It's Wicket equipment pack has also been upgraded to include wooden bats. Perfect for clubs looking to grow their female membership.
Why Should Your Club Sign Up?
Smash-It and It’s Wicket are more than just cricket programmes – they are pathways into lifelong sport and club involvement. They can help clubs attract new volunteers, families and members. Running programmes can create a vibrant and inclusive club environment. Clubs who have run programmes in previous years have seen a big boost to junior sections and development of future teams. Programmes can also strengthen and build links with local schools and communities.
