The second T20 fixture in the CL Under 23 District competition is scheduled to take place tomorrow evening, Wednesday 14th May at 5.00pm in College Park.
The hosts will come into this fixture with confidence having enjoyed a straightforward win over North Leinster last week and followed that up last Saturday when they blew away North Kildare in the first round of the LHW Financial Planning Leinster Senior Cup.
A half century from New South Wales Under 19 player Andrew Boulton helped Dublin University beat North Leinster by 45 runs last week. Boulton, who plays at Pembroke, came to the wicket after just two balls when Macdara Cosgrave was run out, dominated a second wicket stand of 99 with Donncha Tucker. The Trinity bowlers then stuck to their task well, with a wicket apiece for Luke Murray, Ben McCabe, Jack Atkinson, Donncha Tucker and Macdara Cosgrave.
The win over North Leinster was quickly followed by their cup success over North Kildare who were brushed aside at College Park by 9 wickets. Irish international Matthew Humphreys took four wickets as Kildare stumbled to 93 all out and he was well supported by Theo Dempsey (3-20) and Yash Bala (2-20). The chase was then a routine one as Macdara Cosgrave hit ten boundaries in a 50-ball unbeaten 60, sharing a half century stand with Jamie Forbes (18*).
For their first fixture on Wednesday, three clubs dominate the South Leinster team selection reflecting the strong youth pathways at Railway Union (5), Leinster (3) and Pembroke (2). Dinesh Antony from Adamstown is also included in the squad reflecting the continued growth and development of talented players at the Airlie Park club.
