Cup competitions enter final stages

One hundred and twenty teams, twelve cups and one aim - to be the winning team who lifts that silverware in the second half of the summer.

With seven full length cups, and five 20/20 tournaments, most teams have been pursuing cup glory in the last few weeks, and even with the relentless rain, most cups are drawing to an exciting climax (is there any other type?)

The quarter finals of the RSA Senior Cup were completely washed out last weekend, with the four matches now being re-arranged across this weekend and the days after. The semi final draw has been made, but with so many imponderables, it's best waiting for the previous round to be played before having a detailed look.

The quarter final of the Senior 2 Cup will take place this Saturday. Two all Division 3 ties take place - The Hills 2 vs Merrion 2 and Civil Service 2 vs Balbriggan 2 whilst YMCA 2 take on Phoenix 2 of Division 3 and Pembroke 2 play Mullingar 1.

Clontarf 3 are the first team in the semi finals of the Middle Cup after their slightly delayed match against Malahide. Railway Union 3 are due to play Dundrum 1 on Saturday, North County 3 played Old Belvedere 2 last weekend (as yet no result) whilst the YMCA 3 vs Pembroke 3 match has not yet been arranged.

The Middle 2 Cup quarter finals take place on Sunday, and the Intermediate Cup has not yet had its 1st round completed.

The Junior Cup quarter final is nearly complete, with Laois 3 taking on Merrion 7, Civil Service 3 against Knockharley 2 and Railway Union 4 hosting Wexford Wanderers 2 .Greystones 1 will play the winners of Clontarf 6 and Dundalk 2 this Sunday.

The final full length cup is the Minor Cup, which left with a sorry look about the draw last weekend, as rain put paid to most ties. Adamstown 2, Leinster 7, Rush 4 and AIB Taverners all beat the weather  (as well as the opposition) and advance to the quarter finals.

Rain has forced the delay of the first found of the NEAR 90.3fm Alan Murray  Cup - details of new dates will be on the site as soon as they are made known. The Tillain Cup semi final is now known. Monday's quarter finals produced wins for Leinster 2 and Merrion 2, and Old Belvedere 1 and The Hills 2.

The YM Salver quarter finals take place tonight, whilst the Whelan Cup semi finalists are known - Malahide 4 play Balbriggan 2, and Sandyford 2 play Leinster 5.

Finally the LCU 20/20 Cup - The Russell Court Hotel is nearing its July 15th Park Avenue final. Railway Union 4 take on Leinster 7 in one semi final, whilst the other half of the draw is a little delayed
