CLONTARF VICTORIOUS IN ED SPORTS MINOR CUP!

A familiar tale once again in Terenure this afternoon, as for the second season in a row, Clontarf W3 sealed the Ed Sports Minor Cup with a fine run chase.

Having won the toss, Clontarf followed Adamstown’s lead from earlier in the day, and elected to bowl first.

They conceded 25 runs before Rachel Bolton became the only wicket to fall in the innings, LBW to Sophie O’Toole.

This brought Eileen Foley to the crease to join Aadita Subramanya Ramnathpur, with the duo adding tempo steadily as the innings progress. Ramnathpur passed 50, and the stand was ultimately worth 112 in 16 overs. Rush set a decent total of 137/1 in their 20 overs, Foley unbeaten on 49, with Ramnathpur on 60.

The Clontarf chase started quietly, however when Sophie O’Toole got on strike, she found the boundary regularly. She and Megan McGeer (20) added 69 for the first wicket inside 10 overs, before McGeer was dismissed caught and bowled by Doireann Cleary.

O’Toole was joined by the skipper Hollie Erskine, and the duo added 54, again Erskine adding 20 before being dismissed with the finish line in sight. O’Toole hit the accelerator once again, and sealed the victory finishing unbeaten on 83 from just 55 balls, including 12 boundaries.

Congratulations to Clontarf for winning the Ed Sports Minor Cup for the second successive season. A brilliant achievement for all players, coaches, officials and supporters associated with the team.
