  3. Clontarf feature strongly in Div 3 averages
11th June 2015 by Paul Reynolds

Clontarf feature strongly in Div 3 averages

For the past four or five years, Division 3 has consistently been the most exciting league in Leinster, with very little to separate top and bottom. Famously in 2013, Balbriggan narrowly escaped relegation on the last day of the season.. and were promoted instead. Most seasons have followed similarly, and this year looks the same with only 10 points covering 3rd to 7th place.

Highest Batting average in Division 3 - (current qualification - 100 runs)

Whilst only three players made the qualification mark of 100 runs in Division 4, a massive 21 players have made the cut in Division 3. Rather than raise the qualification level, all 21 get their place in the spotlight. Three players have passed 200 runs with Michael Lewis (Merrion), and the Hills pair of Mark Donegan and Tomas Rooney Murphy being the trio.

Top of the list is the slightly more experienced Sameer Dutt, formerly of Old Belvedere and YMCA, and now of Clontarf, who has scored 102 runs, whilst being dimissed just once.

Lowest Bowling average in Division 3 - (Current Qualification - 7 wkts)

Ten players make the cut with a bowling qualification mark of 7 wickets. As with the batting, a lofty position in this chart doesn't guarantee a healthy league position. Bill Whaley, the Pembroke captain leads the bowling charts with a healthy 8 wickets at 16.50, but his team are currently languishing in 7th place. Early days.

Youth leads the way, with the leading wicket takers in the divison being Clontarf's Mark Collier, and Leinster's Finn Conaty, both with 13 wickets.
