CL PRESIDENT'S XI VICTORIOUS IN LOW-SCORING THRILLER AGAINST MCC

A beautiful afternoon in Merrion today saw the Cricket Leinster President's XI come out on top against a strong MCC team.

The CL team won the toss and batted first, and in spite of a slow start, a number of small partnerships saw the score reach 78, before the the dismissal of Meg Thompson for 23 pushed things into the MCC's favour.

Double figure scores from each of Eimear Richardson, Cara O'Shea and Aoife Brennan helped the score to pass the 100 run mark, before the biggest partnership of the innings help set up a competitive total.

Leinster's Karina Bell (24) and Pembroke's Zoe Bell (19) added 41 for the 8th wicket as the pair fought back in the face of some excellent bowling from Madeline Ross who took 5/42 for the MCC side.

The final score for the CL President's XI saw them all out for 158 in the 28th over, meaning there would be some time to bowl before the lunch break.

The game was nicely poised after 17 overs, as the MCC had reached 66/2 from 19 overs, however the dismissal of Alice Heap for 36, falling to Thompson, proceeded the dismissal of Elysa Hubbard for 26, bringing the home side back into the game.

An excellent catch on the boundary from Zoe Bell gave Anna Beale the first wicket of her second spell, before she rounded out the innings with the dismissals of Ramya Immadi and Madeline Ross, bowling the MCC out for 136 and securing a 22 run victory for the CL President's XI.

The next game sees the two sides face off in a T20 tomorrow afternoon, at 2pm.
