By the end of June, there have already been 16 reported disciplinary cases involving complaints against a total of 24 people.

The most severe sanction applied to-date related to a Level 3 offence where a 5-match ban was imposed.
The vast majority of cases to-date have resulted in a Level 1 sanction accompanied by a reprimand and a 1-match suspension.
In cases which were deemed by the Committee as Level 2 offences under the Disciplinary Code, the sanctions have ranged between 2 and 3-match bans.
Some guidance points for individual players, captains and clubs based on cases completed to-date:
a) The CL Disciplinary Committee takes cognisance of the extent to which clubs involved have authentically invoked their own disciplinary procedures and imposed their own internal sanction(s) rather than awaiting the centralised process.
b) The CL Disciplinary Committee takes a particularly strong stance where team captains are deemed to have breached the disciplinary code by their own poor behaviour and/or by not controlling the behaviour of their team member(s).
c) From the cases reviewed and hearings completed to-date, there is a clear pattern of adverse behaviour at certain member clubs suggestive of a wider cultural issue and/or leadership deficit. In this context, clubs are reminded that the CL Disciplinary Regulations defines offences which may be committed by a club as follows:
- Failing adequately to control its players’ or officials’ behaviour.
- Failing adequately to control its supporters’ behaviour
- Failure of the club or its members to comply with their obligations under the Cricket Ireland Safeguarding Policy & Guidance for Cricket Clubs.
- Failure of the club or its officials to manage criticism or comments made on any of the social media accounts which are under the club’s control.
And a reminder that the penalty for such an offence shall be any one or more of the following:
- a written reprimand and warning as to future conduct;
- a requirement to play specified Cricket Leinster fixtures away from home for such a period as may be specified;
- suspension from specified Cricket Leinster competitions for such a period as may be specified
- a fine of up to €500.00.
A full list of closed 2026 cases (names, clubs and associated sanctions) will be published on the CL website in due course.
