  3. CL BUSINESS LEAGUE FINAL (TUES 25.7.2023)
24th July 2023 by Cricket Leinster

CL BUSINESS LEAGUE FINAL (TUES 25.7.2023)

The inaugural Hundred Ball Business League competition (HBBL) reaches its climax with the Final taking place on Tuesday evening (25th July) in Merrion CC, Anglesea Road.

Nine company teams took part over the past six weeks as follows:

- Deloitte

- Ergo

- ESB Networks

- EY

- Glanbia

- Grant Thornton (2 teams)

- KPMG

- PWC

Whilst most fixtures escaped the weather, like all other cricket, the later stages of this tournament have been somewhat disrupted by the high level of unseasonal rainfall. With all round-robin dates now completed, the HBBL Final will take place as follows:

Tuesday 25th July, 6.00pm start

The inaugural HBBL trophy will then be presented to the winning team by CL President, Pat Banahan.

The Deloitte team is led by Siddharth Arora who is a management consultant from the company’s Earlsfort Terrace office.

The Glanbia team is led by Praveen Babu who is an eCommerce Architect at Glanbia Business Services in Kilkenny.

The Glanbia team will be travelling from Kilkenny for the Final

The main HBBL regulations are quite straightforward and are designed to achieve a fair balance of competition and enjoyment for all:

- The batting team faces no more than 100 balls.

- The batter’s first ball is always a Free-Hit.

- Wides and no-balls will not lead to any extra balls but will count for one extra run. The ball after a wide or no-ball is always a Free Hit.

- Batter’s must retire after facing 20 balls.

- New batters have 30 seconds to take guard.

- Bowlers can bowl no more than 20 balls each.

- Bowlers can bowl 5 or 10 balls in succession.

- Bowlers change ends every 10 balls.

- Akin to mixed tag rugby, all teams are required to have at least 3 female players.

The Final will be live-scored via the CL match centre and we encourage everyone to come to Anglesea Road for an enjoyable evening of competitive, social cricket.

Good luck to both company teams in their bid to become our first HBBL Champions!
