  3. CL AUTUMN GENERAL MEETING (30.11.2023)
30th November 2023 by Cricket Leinster

CL AUTUMN GENERAL MEETING (30.11.2023)

The CL Autumn General meeting was completed this evening at Pembroke CC.

A minutes silence was observed in memory of those who had sadly passed since the AGM in June. A special tribute was read out in recognition of Paul Reynolds.

There were specific reports from each of the competition committees which were reviewed and approved by the meeting. All committees were thanked for their contribution to the running of Cricket Leinster over the past 12 months.

Nominations had been received prior to the meeting for all 36 governance roles which were confirmed and approved by the meeting. No ballots were required on this occasion. The list of people elected for 2024 is outlined below.

Pat Banahan (CL President – 2023) addressed the meeting summarizing his year as President and outlining what an honour it had been to serve in this leadership role. He thanked all those within the club cricket community who had supported him along the way in fulfilling his role.

Siobhan McBennett was then confirmed as the new CL President for 2024. Siobhan thanked Pat for his service and also acknowledged all those who have supported her over many years involved in cricket at so many levels. She looked forward to her year in office and outlined her intention to prioritise equity, diversity and inclusion as key themes for her tenure as President. Siobhan enthused about the diversity of the club cricket community in Leinster and her desire to ensure we are inclusive in all aspects of how we operate.

As Chair, John Heavey briefed the meeting that Meena Baskarasubramanian has been nominated by the Board as CL President Elect for 2024, meaning that Meena will succeed Siobhan as President in 2025. John outlined Meena’s contribution to cricket in Leinster as a founding member of Adamstown CC, as a Board member, as a member of the Safeguarding & Inclusion committee and most recently, as chair of the Youth committee.
