  3. Batting Partnerships in Open Competitions
1st November 2014 by Eddie Lewis

Batting Partnerships in Open Competitions

The frequency of major batting partnerships have been increasing in recent years. Overall there were ten double century partnerships in Open Competitions. There were no Senior Partnership records broken in 2014. The highest partnerships in ‘Senior' Cricket [D1/D2/Senior Cup] since the start of competitions in 1919 are only recorded for the first five wickets and all took place since 2000. The Spanner / Torrisi partnership for Merrion [which from memory was adjacent Railway in Park Avenue (Eds note: Eddie's memory is playing tricks. The match was against Pembroke in Sydney Parade. Thanks to Stu Daultrey for pointing it out)] is the longest standing. For the remainder of the ‘wickets’ there are no reliable figures.

The highest partnership in 2014 was between two U17 cricketers, Gareth Delany and Jack Kerrison of Leinster. In a Senior II Cup match against Mullingar for Leinster II they put on 282 for the first wicket. The full breakdown by wicket is as follows.

Finally, we have done everything we can to make sure the figures are accurate. Unfortunately some scorecards are returned with fictitious partnerships - we have done our best to root these out. But again if any corrections are required please reply to scores@cricketleinster.ie.
