We can now say with confidence that we have achieved the highest ever number of registered players across the province in 2026 with over 5,500 registered across 46 clubs.
Whilst we are seeing growth in participation across the board, it is especially evident on the female side where there are over 1,000 registered players for the first time. This is reflected in many ways including the introduction of a fifth women’s league in 2026 with a strong social & participatory focus and the marked increase in the number of clubs introducing formal female cricket programmes for the first time in 2026.
There are 110 registered female cricketers who are first time registrants with CL in 2026.
In terms of youth development, the big growth stories for 2026 are at Halverstown (up 54% to 77 registered youth players), Castleknock (up 52% to 63), Finglas (up 32% to 44) and Balbriggan (up 30% to 63).
In overall terms, Adamstown has consolidated its position as the largest club in the province with 293 registered players across Open, Women’s & Youth. 24 of our member clubs now have greater than 100 registered players and 9 of those clubs have more than 200 registered to play in CL competitions.

This is encouraging progress albeit we are still only in the foot-hills of our ambitions for female and youth club cricket.
In particular, we will continue to challenge (and support) clubs which have well-established open competition team structures but have not yet mobilised a youth and/or female cricket programme.
