Today, we start reviewing the season's competitions, with 29 articles over the coming weeks, looking back at one of the most successful seasons of all time - with more cricket being played than ever before.

Between June and July, 32 matches were played in the Russell Court Trophy, with group matches leading to a last eight knock out phase.

Tyrrelstown 2 beat Knockharley 3 and North Kildare 4 in the group phase, before over coming Castleknock 3 and Phoenix 5 in the knockouts. That set up a final with Gorey 1, who overcame Bagenalstown 3 and Railway Union 4 in the group stages, before wins over Greystones 2 and Clondalkin 2.

The final was played in Railway Union's Park Avenue ground on Sunday July 22, with Gorey getting off to a good start, and were 84-3 at one stage, with Khalid Ambroze leading the way with 34. Seven wickets than fell for 34 runs, to give Tyrrelstown a target of 118 to win the club's first silverware.

At 8-2 and then 58-4 Gorey would have fancied their chance, but 35 from Abhijith Mathew took the game away from the Wexford side, as Tyrrelstown won by 4 wickets with five balls to spare.
