Leinster Lightning, currently tied second in the Newstalk 106-108fm Inter-Provincial T20 table, take on both the Northern Knights and the North-West Warriors in the third and final T20 Blitz day in Pembroke Cricket Club this Sunday the 3rd August.
Victory in both matches will be required for the boys in blue to retain the title they won in style at the inaugural 2013 event.
The Warriors top the table with two wins, having beaten us in Bready in early July and then defeated the Knights in their backyard.
The selectors have kept faith with the majority of the team which defeated the Knights in Comber earlier this month with the only change being the return of Merrion’s John Anderson after injury. The full squad is as follows:
John Mooney (Capt – North County)
John Anderson (Vice Capt – Merrion)
Andrew Balbirnie (Pembroke / Middlesex) (Subject to Middlesex Release)
Kenny Carroll (Railway Union)
Pat Collins (Railway Union)
Tyrone Kane (Merrion)
Fintan McAllister (Malahide)
Barry McCarthy (Pembroke)
Andrew Poynter (Clontarf)
Eddie Richardson (North County)
Max Sorensen (The Hills)
Albert van der Merwe (YMCA)
During the interval a series of kwik-cricket matches featuring young players from local clubs will take place.
The charge for the day is €6 with Under-16s & Cricket Ireland members getting in free.
This includes parking in the ground. Food and drink will be available in the ground (no alcohol may be bought in).
