  3. ROWE AND MARTINS TO THE FORE AS FINGAL DISMANTLE DUBLIN CITY

ROWE AND MARTINS TO THE FORE AS FINGAL DISMANTLE DUBLIN CITY

It was a day to forget for Dublin City in Jack Harper Park today, as Fingal were utterly professional from start to finish in their 9 wicket victory in this week’s only BUAKIT District Series fixture.

Brandon Kruger won the toss and didn’t hesitate in asking Dublin City skipper Swapnil Modgil to take first use of the pitch. It wasn’t until the 8th over however when Modgil himself was caught by Suliman Safi off the bowling of Mike Frost that the first wicket fell.

Ashil Prakash was dismissed by Dylan Lues, before Jeremy Martins came into the attack and the game burst into life. He took 3 wickets in four balls and was agonisingly close to a hat-trick when his huge LBW appeal was turned down in the 15th over, leaving Dublin City reeling at 37/6.

But the next ball sees the finger raised in the affirmative to give Martins his 3rd in the over

Martins completed his five-for with the dismissal of Forqan Hassanzada, bowling Dublin City out for just 64 in the 25th over. Nasir Totakhil also chipping in with two wickets of his own including the dismissal of Sean O’Brien below.

Cameron Rowe took the game by the scruff of the neck and dispatched O’Brien’s opening over for 18, before losing his opening partner Suliman Safi for just 2.

However it was fitting that Martins joined Rowe, with the pair who ultimately did most of the damage being at the crease together through to the end of the chase, which came when Rowe struck his 10th boundary, to go with one maximum in a 22-ball half-century which saw a 9 wicket win secured for Fingal inside 6 overs.
