YOUTH REGISTRATION UPDATE (18.5.2021)

Youth registrations across the province now stand at 1,534 players which is already an 87% increase on 2020 and reflects increased familiarity with the process this year, strong interest in a return to cricket at all ages and a major surge in numbers in the lower age groups in response to the Youth Starter packs.

There are over 20 youth competitions planned between June and August which will involve over 700 matches and a number of last year’s competitions have been upgraded to a home and away format

We are pleased to report that many clubs have now received their first batch of starter packs which are being distributed by the Development Officers – a reminder that youth registration includes:

• Participation in all appropriate CL underage competitions
• Participation in all CL supported club-based Blitz sessions, especially for the younger age groups
• Full Personal Accident insurance to provide peace of mind for any mishaps or something more serious
• CL starter pack which includes a t-shirt, bat and ball (all branded)
• Rebate of €3.00 to all clubs in respect of any players registered in the Under 9s section

In respect of the Under 9s rebate, we expect to make the first payments to clubs during week commencing 7th June and it is hoped that these monies will be used to support the club youth coaching effort, especially given the growth in numbers.
