Womens Competition Records

The end of season has allowed us to update the online records for womens competitions in Leinster. These can now be accessed on the website in the Archive section.

In total there are records of just over 300 competitions since 1939. There are also gaps in the data. In some cases this is because of the way in which the fortunes of womens cricket has ebbed and flowed over the years. There were periods when there were no competitions.

But there are also gaps in our knowledge where the details of who won a particular competition are lost [hopefully only temporarily mislaid]. So if anyone knows of a result for any of the missing records listed below - please contact us at cricketleinster@gmail.com.

So what do we know.

Clontarf's position at the top of the trophy table in Womens cricket reflects their dominance in the early years of the competition. In more recent years the accolades have been more evenly spread. But with more than twice the number of titles of their nearest rivals it will take many years, if not generations,  for anyone to knock Clontarf off the top perch.

There are seven clubs with more than 20 titles to their name. Four clubs have won one title [Greystones, Mullingar, North Wicklow and Greystones] and 10 titles were distributed in the early years to clubs which only had a women’s team at the time -  Dartry [6], Ling [3] and Kings Hospital [1]
