  3. WINS FOR TERENURE & NORTH KILDARE IN VITALLITY FIRST TEAM LEAGUE (4.5.2025)
4th May 2025 by Cricket Leinster

WINS FOR TERENURE & NORTH KILDARE IN VITALLITY FIRST TEAM LEAGUE (4.5.2025)

On a sunny and brisk May Sunday, the second round of the Vitallity Sports First Team League saw important home wins for both Terenure and North Kildare.

TERENURE VS ADAMSTOWN

In the game at Terenure, the hosts did an effective job with the ball as no less than five bowlers emerge with a brace of wickets. That said, the key period in the Adamstown innings saw Pomin Ponselvan (batting at number 10) plunder 42 runs off just 15 balls including 5X6s. In doing so, Ponselvan pushed the Adamstown total up to a respectable 183 when a much lower score had been likely at one stage when they had been reduced to 131-8.

Jinal Khatri was in the runs for Terenure

In reply, Terenure lost Gareth Morgan early in the chase however Mick Cotter (46) and Jinal Khatri combined very effectively to put on 75 runs for the second wicket in just 16 overs. Useful middle order contributions then saw Terenure home by 5 wickets including an unbeaten 35* from skipper Donal Lynch.

NORTH KILDARE VS CORK HARLEQUINS

At The Maws, the visitors from Cork batted first and limped to a modest total of 105 with only Dineth Sumanasinghe (35 off 64 balls) making any sort of meaningful contribution with the bat. The North Kildare bowling effort was underpinned by another great spell from Asadullah Ahmadzai who took 5/23 off his allotted overs, ably supported by Nurulain Boda who finished with 3-39.

Whilst the North Kildare chase then got off to a shocking start thanks to two quick wickets for Seanan Jones, that man Ahmadzai then steadied the ship with a solid 30 whilst Yash Kalasannavar (44*) anchored the innings at number 3 to see the home side over the line by 5 wickets with many overs to spare.
