SUCCESSFUL FINGAL BOYS YOUTH UK TOUR

Cricket Leinster made a successful return to Merseyside with a Fingal Youth team having previously visited there in 2019.

Tour summary scores are as follows:

Prescott & Odyssey CC, St Helen's, Liverpool
Game 1 vs Academy North
Academy North 144-3, 30 overs
(Mason Cockroft 57, James Miller 48, Aadi Wankhade 1-19)
Fingal 145-4, 21.5 overs
(Callum Armstrong 55no, Kyle Rock 33, Ryan Keenan 16)
Fingal won by 6 wickets

Liverpool CC, Aigburth
Game 2 vs Liverpool CC
Fingal 124-6, 20 overs
(Joe Russell 61 no, Darragh Flynn 18)
Liverpool CC 93-6, 20 overs
(Billy Kelly 1-11, Darragh Flynn 1-12)
Fingal won by 31 runs

Fingal Cricket Development Manager Brían O’Rourke led the praise to all those who made the tour possible:

“I would like to thank everyone who came together to make the tour a reality especially Matt and Steve at Academy North in Liverpool.  The players were a credit to Fingal, Cricket Leinster, and of course their clubs & families.”

Senior Sports Officer with Fingal County Council Niall McGuirk was delighted to see the tour as a success adding:

“I would like to add my congratulations to all of the tour players for showcasing, not only the growing strength of our cricket on the field but for showing U13s are proud ambassadors for our Fingal community.”

Matt Jackson Academy North added:

“We are proud to grow our links with Fingal and Cricket Leinster, and hope they will now see the Merseyside area as a second cricket home - our thanks to all the visiting players, parents & coaches and we look forward to seeing them all again soon!”

As the summer programme concludes for another season, players are reminded that it is just three weeks until Cricket Leinster Underage Autumn/Winter programme starts – so plenty to look forward to on the cricketing front.
