  3. Senior League Cup – Matchday 3 Preview
28th April 2019 by Andrew Leonard

Senior League Cup – Matchday 3 Preview

After two rounds of matches in the Leinster Senior League Cup, the groups are beginning to take a little shape.

In Group A, three sides have two wins from two matches, they are The Hills, Malahide and Phoenix.

All three won home matches on Saturday against Railway Union, Dublin University and YMCA respectively. These matches were all shortened due to the overnight storms on Friday.

Simi Singh struck a century for Phoenix, against his former side YM, as they won by 66 runs. Phoenix don’t play on Sunday, however YMCA who suffered their second defeat, face a crunch match against Malahide on Sunday.

The Hills face local rivals North County, who lost to Malahide in their single game so far last weekend. Form can go out the window in these derbies, however a third straight win for The Hills would see them well placed for the rest of competition.

In the final game of Group A, Dublin University and Railway Union, without a win between them, meet in College Park.

In Group B on Sunday, Merrion host Rush in Anglesea Road. They’ve had comfortable wins over Terenure and Clontarf and will hope to continue their early season good form, especially with the bat.

Balbriggan, who shocked Clontarf on matchday 1, had their match with Pembroke abandoned on Saturday, but will be looking forward to a crucial clash with Leinster who beat Rush on Saturday after losing to Pembroke last weekend.

The third game in the group sees Pembroke host Terenure in Sydney Parade.

As ever, stay tuned to the new match centre on the website, check out the CricClubs App and watch out for tweets on both @cricketleinster and from reporter Peter Boyd (@fibrofella) over the course of the day’s play.

For the first time this time season, attention will focus on Group A with Peter attending The Hills v North County at The Vineyard with a full match report and images to follow at the close of play in Milverton on Sunday.
