There was plenty of coverage of August's Leinster Senior Cup final at the time, so this short summary provides a quick recap, as we continue our review of Cricket Leinster's Open Competitions in 2018.

It was Clontarf's 8th win of the century and their 14th overall (placing them only one win behind Phoenix's record of 15). North County failed to add to their one success in the competition (in 2003). It was their sixth loss in a final (and their fourth to Clontarf)

The match itself saw twists and turns and was a gripping afternoon's entertainment for the thousands who were glued to the live stream. Brilliant spells from North County's Andrew Sheridan (3-27) and Malcolm Nofal (an astonishing 4-8) left Clontarf in all sorts of trouble at 106-7 . Robert Forrest proved to be the hero for Clontarf, with 66, adding 80 for the 8th wicket with Ropu Islam (35*). Tarf's 192 from 40 overs should have been well within North County's reach, and at at 106-1 (with Niall McGovern scoring 58), County looked to be well on course.

The pressure then proved too much for the County batting line up, as nine wickets fell for 69, to extend Clontarf's dominance with a 17 run win
