  3. OCC League Structures 2019
24th February 2019 by Cricket Leinster Open Competitions Committee

OCC League Structures 2019

Cricket Leinster and the OCC are delighted to announce the OCC League Structures for the 2019 season. The organisation of the league structures is always a complicated process, and in 2019 this is no different.

The highlight is the expansion to 17 divisions and the inclusion of a new club to League competition, Athlone Cricket Club. Athlone have been very active for a long number of years and are keen to establish themselves in League cricket. They have been placed in Division 17 along with new teams from Tyrrelstown, Swords, Adamstown, Clondalkin, Phoenix and The Hills. Extra teams from DLR County and Railway Union have also been entered at suitable levels.

As usual many clubs made requests for promotion or relegation for their teams. However one of the biggest trends in our recent player survey was related to number of matches played each season and indicated that eight team leagues offered the right balance of quantity and quality of cricket. Accordingly, as far as possible, many leagues have been rearranged as eight team leagues and the resultant recalibration means that many teams have been realigned through the league structure.

In the coming weeks we will be announcing details of Cup draws, the new IBI Corporate Finance Senior League Cup Fixtures and the fixture making process will be getting underway in earnest. The cricket season is nearly upon us and it promises to be a cracker, with more teams, more competitions and more events. In particular Cricket Leinster will be marking their Centenary with a programme of events and attractions.
