On Sunday the 26th June, Cricket Leinster was delighted to start the CL Midlands Underage Series for the 2022 season in Carlow CC.
The series involves several clubs in an area, coming to one venue to play several games against each other on the day. The rules for the series are an improvised version of Cubs regulations in the CL league, to allow for a shorter game format.
On Sunday, Bagenalstown CC and Kilkenny CC were also involved in the Series in Carlow College, St. Patrick’s. These were the first games to be played in the South region, with other events also taking place in the North area later in the season.
The weather on Sunday was unfortunately not the best, with rain coming through on and off throughout the morning. However, credit has to be to everyone who was there; the kids, the parents and the coaches. Even with the rain, the players and organisers kept getting back out there to finish their games. The kids didn’t mind the rain too much, while the adults were more concerned about the rain!
Each of the participating clubs on the day received a number of CL branded cricket sets, while all participants were provided with CL branded t-shirts to recognise their involvement.
Despite the rain, the Midlands Underage Series day in Carlow CC was a great success, with clubs, parents and participants looking forward to the next event later on in the season.
Further dates for the series are as follows:
