The Hills welcomed local rivals North County to The Vineyard for the second time in a little over a week. This time for a first round tie in the IBI Corporate Finance Leinster Senior Cup. The Fingal Area was hit with heavy rain on Sunday Lunchtime which meant the game was reduced to a 20 over a side tie.
Nicolas Pretorius and Mark Donegan opened for the Hills. Eddie Richards and Sean Kingston bowling for North County. Pretorius was caught by Jamie Grassi off the bowling of Sean Kingston for 13 when the score was 13. Sean Terry joined Donegan in the middle. Donegan hit 5 fours and brought the score on to 44 when he fell stumped by Grassi off the bowling of Adam Coughlan. Max Sorenson next in, but his stay was brief caught by Eddie Richardson from the bowling of Malcolm Nofal. Daya Singh joined Terry and they brought the total to 70 when Terry was caught by Grassi from the bowling of Coughlan. Tomas Rooney Murphy joined Singh and injected some pace into the scoreboard. Singh was run out by Gugale for 22 when the score was 99. Rashid Mehraj went soon after caught by Nofal from the bowling of Cian Mulvaney. Naseer Shoukat joined Rooney Murphy and the pair put on 36 in off 19 balls. Shoukat caught by Gugale off the bowling of Kingston from the last ball. Tomas Rooney Murphy ended not out 41 hitting 3 sixes. The Hills had made 146 for 7 in their 20 overs.
North County's bowlers did well. Eddie Richardson 0-29, Sean Kingston 2-39, Adam Coughlan 2-26, Malcolm Nofal 1-21 and Cian Mulvaey 1-30.
Needing 147 North County opened up with Jamie Grassi and Niall McGovern while Daya Singh and Sean Terry took the ball for The Hills. North County went about the bowling like they were in a hurry. They raced to 72 from 6.1 over before they lost their first wicked Grassi falling lbw to Rashid Mehraj for 37 from 20 balls with 7 fours. McGovern going well himself was joined by Malcolm Nofal who is in great form this season. The pair brought the score to 128 at the start of the 14th over when McGovern was bowled by Daya Singh for an excellent 51 from 42 balls. Eddie Richardson joined Nofal and the experienced pair brought North County home with ease. Richardson not out 10 from 12 balls. Malcolm Nofal not out 35 with 3 fours and 1 six. County reaching their target in 17.4 overs.
The Hills bowlers faced a tough task. Daya Singh 1-16 and Rashid Mehraj 1-14 the only wicket takers.
North County through to the next round with ease by 8 wickets.
