The LHW Financial Planning sponsored Leinster Lightning squads for the upcoming week have today been confirmed, with Tuesday’s IP50 game against Munster Reds in The Mardyke to be followed up by the weekend IP20 festival hosted by the North West Warriors in Bready.
Tuesday’s squad sees Jack Tector return, with his brother Tim unavailable due to exam commitments and Jack Carty also missing due to work, but does return for the IP20 festival on the weekend, which sees a first call-up to a Lightning squad for Terenure’s Séamus Lynch.
Mikey O’Reilly also returns to the Lightning squad for the remainder of the season on loan with the agreement of the Munster Reds. His return will add further depth to the bowling unit.
Tuesday’s squad sees 5 players represented from Pembroke and 4 from YMCA, with a single representative from each of Balbriggan, Malahide and Phoenix.
Coach Nigel Jones is looking forward to a good week of cricket, with a chance for the squad to bounce back from a challenging period over the last couple of weeks;
“Firstly, congratulations to those selected across both squads for this week.
Jack Tector returns to our 50 over team and Séamus Lynch is selected for the first time in a Leinster Lightning squad.
Tim Tector is out due to school exams and Jack Carty will miss Tuesday’s fixture with work commitments, before returning for the T20 festival in Bready.
Undoubtably, it’s been a challenging period with a number of players unavailable through injuries, exam/work commitments and or on player loans to other PU teams. On the flip side, it’s created further playing opportunities and exposure to a wider pool of players from within our own system too.
We are looking forward to the opportunities as a squad this week, we’ve spoken about the need to continue to focus on what’s within our control and play what’s in front of us… if we can manage those two aspects, then we give ourselves the best chance to perform to our fullest potential.
Our focus now turns to our game on Tuesday down in Cork against the Reds, that’s a game we are excited to take on and there’s a real buzz around the squad of unfinished business.”
