Whilst today’s IP20 fixture was essentially a dead-rubber (scores below), it was nonetheless an important occasion for the Sherwin O’Riordan sponsored Leinster Lightning squad who were presented with the IP20 trophy at home here at Oak Hill as Champions for 2024.
George Dockrell, Leinster Lightning captain received the trophy from Siobhan McBennett, Cricket Leinster 2024 President who was at Oak Hill to mark the occasion and congratulate the team on another trophy success.
Leinster Lightning has dominated the IP competitions since they were reconstituted in 2013 and this year’s success is their eighth time as IP20 Champions in the 12 years of the competition.
The final fixture of this year’s IP programme is scheduled to take place at Oak Hill tomorrow (Wednesday 11th) when Leinster Lightning host the Northern Knights in the 50-over format. Play is scheduled to commence at 10.45am with the Knights in pole position to secure the IP50 title.
Our thanks to James Sherwin and David O’Riordan (Sherwin O’Riordan Solicitors) for their ongoing sponsorship support of the Leinster Lightning and Leinster Bolts, it is very much appreciated.
