Irish Competitions: R1 Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup

With Phoenix still to play, eight of the ten Leinster teams made it safely through the first round of the Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup.

For the most part the wins were reasonably comfortable but Leinster had only 14 runs to spare against Instonians and North County had to recovery from the loss of early wickets to overcome Creevedonnell by three wickets.

The outstanding individual performance of the day was Ken Brennan’s 6/17] as Terenure shot out Limavady for 65. With the bat Robert Forrests’ 154* for Clontarf was decisive against Cork Harlequins.

Important batting contributions that contributed to securing victories included, Max Sorensn [67] for The Hills against Bready, John Anderson [67*] for Merrion against Ballymena, Kevin O’Brien’s [69*] for Railway against Glendermott, Trent Johnston [66*] for YMCA against Instonians, Stephen Morton [57] for Leinster against Lisburn and John Moooney [78*] for North County against Creevedonnell.

Two notable bowling performances were T Kane [4/15 for Merrion,  N Shoukat [3/29] for The Hills and S Dutt’s 3/35 for YMCA.

The second round is due to be played on the 9th June and there are three all-Leinster ties:

Merrion v Clontarf

Leinster v Railway

Terenure v YMCA

In other three matches matches Leinster teams also have home advantage

Phoenix [if they win against CSN] v Derriaghy

North County v North Down

The Hills v CIYMS

  • Bonds Glen lost to CIYMS by 8 wickets. Bond's Glen,

  • Glendermott lost to Railway Union by 8 wickets. The Rectory,

  • Ballymena lost to Merrion by 53 runs. Eaton Park,

  • Waringstown beat Strabane by 3 wickets. The Lawn,

  • Instonians lost to YMCA by 6 wickets. Shaw's Bridge,
