The HBBL is hotting up as we head into the business end of the league season. There are 4 groups in this iteration of the Cricket Leinster’s corporate league, and here we will look into what is left to be played along with what has gone before as this season of the HBBL heads towards it’s later stages.
GROUP A
Group A is being led by SAP at present on 6 points although they have played one more game than second placed Deloitte. The game between Glanbia and Microsoft was played last evening on July 1st and the winner's Microsoft are sure to be in with a good chance of making the semi-final stage having caused the table to concertina with that result. It is, however, all still to play for with no less than 3 teams sitting on 4 points behind SAP in the previously mentioned Deloitte, Glanbia and PWC albeit with an extra game played in the case of PWC.
GROUP B
This group is yet again a tight one with Amazon leading the charge on 6 points, they have however played 1 more game than second and third who are Ericsson and Sogeti respectively. Some big games to look out for in this group include are Amazon taking on Sogeti on July 10th, however their No Result on Monday against Ericsson hasn't helped them extend their lead over the Athlone side, if they can come away with a win against Sogeti, it gives them a great chance to tie up this group.
GROUP C
This is the most symmetrical group with each team having played two games to this point. EY have taken an early lead in this group having taken two wins from their first two games. Those in the chasing pack include FMR and Microsoft 1 who both sit one one win from their first two games. Like many other groups this one still has a lot of road to be run with all teams due to play each other again. It is still anyone’s game at the present moment but should EY come away with another win it will be steep challenge to catch them.
GROUP D
This is another group that is tight as can be at the midway point. Accenture presently sit atop the tree on 6 points having won one game and had another rained off. Gresham House and Bank of America sit in second and third place respectively both sitting on 4 points. Again as is the case with many other groups it is all to play for in this group with all due to play each other once more over the coming fortnight. Accenture will be feeling confident knowing one win over the two aforementioned sides will leave them in poll position to take group D.
