GREAT NEWS - 5,000 PLAYERS NOW REGISTERED TO PLAY IN LEINSTER (12.7.2022)

Overall

We are delighted to report that there are now over 5,000players registered across the province – adult numbers are up on the prior year whilst youth numbers are currently running at circa 90% of the 2021 level.

We believe this primarily reflects some slippage in adherence to the registration process – all parents, players and club officers are reminded to ensure that all participants are registered in line with our regulations and to ensure all players are protected by our Personal Accident Insurance policy.

At an overall level, the top 10 in terms of registered players are as follows:

Youth Focus

There are now 1,960 youths registered across 36 clubs with some very encouraging numbers from clubs which are relatively new to youth cricket e.g., Finglas (38), Kilkenny (38), Tyrrelstown (30) and Athlone (25) to name just 4 clubs.

Women’s Cricket

There are now 890 female cricketers registered – Merrion again leads the way with 101 players whilst Pembroke (93), Leinster (67), Phoenix (54) and North Kildare (52) make up the top five.

Other clubs worthy of mention include Terenure (43), Adamstown (39), Balbriggan (33) as they are relative newcomers/returners to the female cricket programme.
